Diagnostic tests and investigations

The diagnostic process is vital in making sure you get exactly the treatment you need. The first step is a detailed examination of you and your medical history. At CRSC, we take the time to do this thoroughly and, in some more complex situations, it may take more than one appointment.

In addition, we might use one or more of the following diagnostic tests in order to get a better understanding of your condition and your unique circumstances. Working only alongside trusted and highly specialised radiologists, endoscopists and pathologists, we’ll tailor your treatment plan to your specific needs. It’s all part of our personalised approach.

All tests are available either in-house or in one of HCA Healthcare UK’s state-of-the-art facilities.

Surgical treatments we offer

Colon and rectum

  • Removal of parts of the colon and/or rectum for bowel cancer
  • Partial or complete resections for Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, Irritable bowel disease (IBD), and severe constipation
  • Panproctocolectomy with or without ileoanal pouch for IBD or genetic cancers, including familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and others
  • Sigmoidectomy for diverticulitis and diverticular disease
  • Colostomy or ileostomy for incontinence and other conditions

Anus

  • Anti-prolapse operation (rectopexy) with or without biological mesh, Delormes and Altemeier’s procedure
  • Haemorrhoidectomy and HALO procedure
  • Fissurectomy and sphincterotomy for anal fissure
  • Transanal resections of cancers/tumours (TAMIS and robotic TAMIS)

Skin

  • Pilonidal sinus operation (Bascom procedures)
  • Skin tag removal
  • Incision and drainage of boils

Abdominal wall

  • Robotic eTEP and TAPP hernia repair of groin, umbilical and incisional hernias
  • Robotic surgery for separated stomach muscles (rectus diastasis or divarication)
  • Parastomal hernia surgery for hernias next to a stoma
  • Perineal hernia surgery for hernias of the perineum

Non-surgical treatments we offer

  • Removal of polyps and tumours through colonoscopy (polypectomy)
  • Medical treatment of IBS and constipation
  • Banding of haemorrhoids
  • Injection of Botox for anal fissures
  • Ointments for haemorrhoids and fissures
